Mezcal Jazz Unit went to Vietnam for the first time 2002 for a series of concerts and artistic collaborations The desire to create an original collaborative music performance was born from encounters with Vietnamese artists across the country. "Tìm Gió "(Looking for the wind) came into being in 2005 in Ho Chi Minh City, and would be performed in Vietnam and also in France.
The C.D., « Tìm Gió, ’ recorded at the National Conservatory of Music was produced by the SCAC (Cultural Affairs Section of the French Embassy in Ho Chi Minh City.)
This original Franco- Vietnamese music collaboration, combining jazz and traditional instruments would represent France in 2006 at the prestigious Hué Festival, in the heart of the imperial city.

Chronology :

2002:

  • Concert, MJU 2nd European Jazz Festival Hanoi.
  • Concert, MJU Quyen Van Minh Jazz Club Hanoi.
  • Master classes and concert, National Music Conservatory Hanoi.
  • Artist’s Residency and concerts with composer Ngoc Dai ( Hue, Da nang, Hôi An).
  • First meeting with Trần Mạnh Tuấn at the IDECAF HCMC.
  • Concert MJU 2nd European Jazz Festival HCMC.
  • Benefit concerts in collaboration with the humanitarian association « les Lampions » at the hospital in Long My, Hau Giang province.

2004:

  • Concert MJU 4th European Jazz Festival, Hanoi.
  • Residency with Siu Black. Concert MJU and Siu Black, European Jazz Festival Hanoi
  • Concert MJU and Trần Mạnh Tuấn’s band, National Music Conservatory HCMC.

2005:

  • Artistic residency "Tìm Gió" HCMC.
  • Concert "Tìm Gió" 5th European Jazz Festival, HCMC.
  • Concerts "Tìm Gió" IDECAF/ Hotel Equatorial, HCMC.
  • CD recording "Tìm Gió" National Music Conservatory HCMC.

2006:

  • Concert "Tìm Gió" IDECAF.
  • Concert "Tìm Gió" Festival de Hue.
  • Concert "Tìm Gió" French Cultural Centre Hanoi

2007:

  • National concert tour France "Tìm Gió" (Montpellier, Paris, Toulouse, Avignon, Cannes..)

2013: "Gặp Lặi Bặn" (" Together again ")
